From Neighborhood Activist to Mayor
A little over a decade ago, Heidi was a full time mom in Oak Hill, cheering her kids on at soccer games and swim meets. When a developer tried to turn a beloved community green space into a strip mall, she organized her neighbors and fought back. They won, and the campaign sparked something bigger: Heidi ran for office, eventually serving as Vice Mayor and then Mayor of Oak Hill.
As mayor, she inherited a budget shortfall and fixed it, going so far as to forgo her own salary to demonstrate her commitment to fiscal responsibility. Two terms in, she'd grown frustrated watching the Tennessee General Assembly choose division over solutions on issue after issue that mattered to her community. So she ran for the State Senate to change that from the inside.
